I am Aum, by the way. I am 11 years old and a Grade 6 student at JBCN International School, Oshiwara.
I started this campaign because I was shocked to discover that many students from low-income homes in Maharashtra who attend school (primarily government schools) do not have the most basic supplies, such as appropriate footwear or a school bag, and frequently sit on the hard ground to study there.
Nine out of ten students will experience posture-related issues if they spend a lot of time sitting on the ground. It also has an indirect effect on their vision and ability to focus and study. Foot-related diseases and health issues are also caused by a lack of footwear.
The back-to-school kit costs INR 900 and includes recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably on at school or at home, and a recycled school bag for books. This is a very small amount to impact a student. Each kit costs just INR 900, including the cost of distribution. Fund INR 2700, for example, and transform the lives of three students.
