My name is Sanmati Jayaram. I am 16 years old and a Grade 11 student at Canadian international School (CIS), Bengaluru.
I have taken up this initiative because being able to impact the lives of young girls (who are as old as me) is something I am passionate about. The girls at Makkala Dhama have lost one or both parents, have been abandoned or have had unhealthy growing environments (exposure to abuse, neglect, etc.) . Makkala Dhama will transform their lives as they would be able to grow up in a secure and safe environment that helps them focus on their academics, health and well being. At Makkala Dhama, girls are provided with accommodation, food, clothing, medical care, stationery, books, etc. They attend nearby schools.
The cost to impact a girl for a month is only INR 3,333 and for a year, INR 40,000. The shelter home will provide all the necessary facilities as well as the ideal environment to help them grow into independent and responsible adults. This campaign will definitely give them hope and comfort and will positively impact their lives by fostering a transformative journey towards a brighter future.
