Hi, I am Faiza Mushtaq Khan a student of Class 10th of DPS, Bangalore North. I really like helping people in need especially children with disabilities. A few days ago, our school had a program where the team from Fueladream.com told us about a crowdfunding program which is going to help raise funds for children who are suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. DMD is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact.The symptom of muscle weakness usually begins around the age of four in boys (rarely affects girls) and worsens quickly.This disables them to walk properly and are wheelchair bound by their early teens.For most of us getting up from a chair is so effortless but for children with DMD this is something they suffer a lot with. The thing that hurts the most is that these children are such wonderful human beings and have numerous skills and capability to do so well in life but are held back just because of their disabilities.Just like one of my school mate Karanveer Singh studying in class 12, suffers from DMD but is a remarkable student and a jewel of a person who got 98% in his 10th boards.My dream is to give such children a chance to prove their worth and give them hope that they are no less. The fact that a contribution of just Rs 20000 can fund the treatment of a underprivileged child suffering from DMD for an entire year thanks to the efforts of the NGO called DART made me realize that I must do something to help. I strongly believe that we can help children suffering from DMD and make a difference to their lives. I would absolutely love it if you contribute as much as you can for this great cause and help a child relive the dreams he/she had once seen.
