About:
Hi, I am Mridula Raghunandan a student of Class 12th of DPS, Bangalore North. I am also a disciple of the art of yoga and I enjoy playing my guitar and listening to music. I want to become a psychologist. I have made it my aim to make a difference around me and help in anyway possible. There are a lot of kind and sensitive people in this world who want to help too. But most of them don't have the means. I can help change that.
Let me tell you more about this campaign of mine. A few days ago, our school had a program where the team from Fueladream.com told us about a crowdfunding program which is going to help raise funds for children who are suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. It refers to a group of disorders that involve a progressive loss of muscle mass and consequent loss of strength. This is caused due to genetic mutations and hence the victim, usually young boys, suffer fro the day they are born and over time it becomes hard for them to even move. And eventually their heart slow down, resulting in death.
The problem doesn't have a cure yet, and the treatment to make it less painful alone involves tablets that each cost a lot. Unfortunately, 90% of the people suffering from this dystrophy are underprivileged and their family has to sacrifice basic necessities like education and proper nutrition, to even afford the primary treatment.
The fact that a contribution of just Rs 20,000 can fund the treatment of a underprivileged child suffering from DMD for an entire year, thanks to the efforts of the NGO called DART, made me realise that I must do contribute to this cause in some way and help those who aren't able to help themselves. I strongly believe that we can help children suffering from DMD and make a massive difference to their lives. And i believe this is a really efficient and effective method which will help cause a change with even minimal participation from each one of you.
