My name is Anvi Paunikar. I am 12 years old and a Grade 7 student at EuroSchool, Airoli.
I have undertaken this campaign because I was surprised to learn that many students from low-income homes in Maharashtra who go to school (mainly government schools) do not have basic school gear like proper footwear or a school bag and often sit on the hard ground to study.
Sitting on the floor for long periods means 9 in 10 students face posture-related problems. It also has an indirect impact on their eyesight and their ability to concentrate and study to get good grades. Lack of footwear also leads to foot-related diseases and health issues and that creates a problem for these young minds, stopping them from a full-time education.
The back-to-school kit costs just INR 950 and gives students a pair of recycled footwear, a recycled study mat to sit comfortably at school or home and a recycled school bag for books. This is a very small amount to impact a student. Fund INR 1900 for example and transform the lives of 2 students.
Supporting my campaign will not only bring smiles to these young students but also give them an initiative to come to school and impact their health, school attendance, and grades to have a chance of a better education.
