Preterm babies are those babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Majority of these babies are underweight. These babies experience a condition called Hypothermia where the baby's body temperature drops low which may lead to death. I was shocked to learn that for preterm babies the first 28 days are crucial for survival. If not properly cared for, these babies will not survive.

Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a lifesaving technique where mothers hold their preterm babies close to their skin to keep them warm and stable. Just like kangaroos! However, holding a tiny baby for 8-24 hours a day can be tough. This challenge makes it hard for many parents to provide Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) to their babies.

A specially designed Kangaroo Mother Care Sling bag offers an innovative solution for this. This bag securely holds the baby in place, making skin-to-skin care easy and comfortable for long durations. The cost of counselling, training the parents, monitoring, and giving them two KMC bags is just INR 2500. This will help save a life.

The funds from this campaign will be used to distribute these sling bags in government hospital ICUs across Tamil Nadu.
