My name is Ujwal Shankar and I am in Grade 9 at Vidya Niketan School, Bangalore.

Food is a basic necessity for everyone. You and I have been fortunate enough to enjoy three delicious meals everyday but that is not the case for most of the children attending government schools. This campaign will help provide piping hot mid-day meals to needy students around India. For them, this might be the only meal for the entire day. The cost you may ask? The cost is just INR 1100 to feed one child for a whole academic year (232 days).

Akshaya Patra has been helping students in need for around 20 years and they are as enthusiastic as ever. Work in the factory-like kitchens start at 2 a.m. everyday and by noon, they are able to provide 1.8 million meals to students in 15000 schools across 12 states in India. Strict hygienic practices, a meal planned by a child nutritionist and good quality raw materials ensure that children get a healthy, delicious and nutritious meal to quench their hunger, allowing them to focus more on their hunger for knowledge. School children enrolled in Akshay Patra scheme vouch for a fact that they miss school on Sundays and other holidays, the food making all the difference.
